To all of my friends and patrons who have supported
my fund raising efforts for the American Red Cross:

Thank You!

My selection as Torchbearer for the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Olympics is a great honor that will remain forever as one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Passing The Olympic Torch I owe it, in large part, to you. You are the primary reason I was nominated, and I believe your generosity is what set me apart among 210,000 nominees and allowed me to become one of the few to receive this rare honor.

Thank you all once again for your kind generosity. While your gifts were intended for the greater good of helping those in need, they have come back as this gift to me, for which I am sincerely grateful.

Special thanks to Leigh and D'Arci Walther, who included the following kind words when nominating me for this honor:

"Walter Schaller was raised at the foot of Switzerland's Matterhorn, which he climbed with his daughter, and where he learned to set his aspirations high. Walter, dedicated athlete, successful restaurateur, rose gardener and eager philanthropist, has made an indelible mark on our community since moving to Dayton, Ohio in 1964. At age 65, Walter's accomplishments are inspirational.

"Running the Boston Marathon for seven years, Walter has raised $252,000 on behalf of the American Red Cross, allocated specifically for disaster relief in Dayton with the Schaller Runners' Fund. Walter truly embodies the spirit of an Olympic Torch Bearer."

Sincerely,

Walter Schaller
